I had the pleasure of spending the day at camp on Wednesday. I was thrilled to see our children challenge themselves and go out of their comfort zones on the high ropes course, rock climbing, and kayaking. For some children, even being away from home, communal sleeping arrangements, and eating what is being served can be very challenging, but it is so worth it.
Camps don't happen unless we have parent helpers who are willing to step away from their normal lives for 4 days, have minimal sleep and be a parent help for all children not just their own. It takes a special person to be a camp parent, and this year is no exception; our mums and dads have been exceptional with their encouragement, attitudes and willingness to do whatever it takes to make the camp successful. This may mean bobbing around in a pond for an hour, belaying on the high ropes, cleaning toilets or serving up dinner.
If your child went to camp, please make sure you thank the parent helpers ,Mrs McDowall and Miss Sims for their mahi this week.
