Nau mai hoki mai,
It is so fabulous to be back to school, albeit a short week. A special welcome to our new Kaikorai whānau who have joined us from overseas, other schools in NZ or are starting school for the first time; we are happy you are here.
I hope your child has settled well into the new school year. There's a great atmosphere in the playground and classrooms, with lots of positive energy. We're establishing routines, exploring our school values, and putting systems in place to help everyone succeed. Thank you for your help in getting your children to school on time. We've seen a real improvement since we introduced the 8:55 am bell, and it's making a positive impact on learning, which starts at 9:00 am.
Using SeeSaw and emails are a great way to communicate with your child's teacher. But please note that they often cannot check messages during teaching time. If you need to pass on a message (e.g. change of after-school plans), please ring the office.
Our teachers are not expected to respond to messages outside of their working hours. If you email in the evening, you can expect a reply the following morning when they start their workday.
The Sunday SeeSaw post gives you a preview of important events and information for the week ahead. This is scheduled to be sent every Sunday, and checking it is a great way to start the week prepared.
We're excited to see you at our Meet the Teacher evening and whānau picnic on Thursday, February 20th.
Here's how the evening will go:
5:30 - 6:00 pm: BYO family dinner on the courts. We'll also have a free sausage sizzle for the children.
6:00 - 6:20 pm: Presentations from junior syndicate teachers in their classrooms.
6:20 - 6:40 pm: Presentations from middle syndicate teachers in their classrooms.
6:40 - 7:00 pm: Presentations from senior syndicate teachers in their classrooms.
During the presentations, children are welcome to play in the playground under the supervision of our teachers. Scooters are welcome!
As always, please don't hesitate to contact me or chat with me at the gate at any time.
Ngā manaakitanga
