Whaiwhia te kete mātauranga - Fill the basket of knowledge

It’s hard to believe that term 1 has come to an end - but what an amazing term it has been. We have been especially proud of our students and the enthusiasm they have shown for their learning this term. It is wonderful to see the obvious pride students feel when they know they have made improvements in their learning - whether this is learning a new task, improving their handwriting, feeling more confident when speaking in front of the class, spelling harder words, or reading longer books. It is important to remember that progress is different for everyone and that we want our students to feel proud of the achievements they are making as we support them on their learning journey.

I wanted to take a moment to say thank you for your help with all of our out of school visits and activities this term. Thank you to all of our amazing helpers during our swimming sessions - we would not be able to do it without you! Thank you to the parents who supported us with our visits to Redroofs, the Community Gardens, and Arai te uru Marae. We rely on your support to make these visits possible - and appreciate that there were last-minute changes that had to be made due to the weather and circumstances out of our control. The discussions had by children back in the classroom have highlighted the importance of these types of activities. We are hoping to keep the connection with Redroofs throughout the year - more information will follow early next term.

I know there are a lot of tired children who are ready for a holiday and will be able to rest and recharge after all of their hard work. Take care over the school holidays, and we look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for another term full of fun learning.
