We have had a very busy term, with lots of highlights, including focusing on our part in the school movie and our Inquiry work on Building Relationships with people in different age demographics.
We started the term with our Year 6's visiting and receiving visits from prospective 2018 schools. A team from our class represented the school in the Epro8 challenge (The Epro8 Challenge is a competition, an engineering and problem solving race). Azul, Emma, Amelia and Ellan did really well, making it to the finals and just missing a top three place - well done girls! We have had some excellent shows this term, NED ( conveying messages; never give up, encourage others and do your best), a Love Your Water informative presentation from scientists, and the Kahurangi Dance Troupe. We also visited the Art Gallery and looked at how music can shape and change art. We created some art works using music from the Wearable Arts to motivate us.
We had a visit to the Edgar Stadium to practise skills in various winter sports. Our focus has also been on building up running stamina for the school cross-country, with a number of our children doing really well in the Hills Cross-Country, Otago Cross Country and featuring in the upcoming school section of the Moro Marathon.
We have also been busy in the arts, learning songs, aspects of filming, and working with the residents of Summerset Village, to not only help us with our Inquiries, but also participate and contribute to our class section of our movie. Upcoming choir, orchestra, Kapa Haka and ukulele performances are also involving numbers of children from our class in the next few weeks this term.
I would personally like to thank all the parents, grandparents and family members who have helped with trips, knitting, encouragement, rides, homework, getting notices back, remembering school Tshirts, and all the extras you have done to make sure the children have coped with this busy term! Thank you so much!
