It has been a very, very busy 2 weeks! Our Year 6 children are practicing so they can perfect their Christmas Carols and Year 6 Song, ready to present to their families at their farewell next week. Most Year 6s are also involved in the nativity play rehearsals at the church as well.  The Year 5 children have been learning to sing and play some songs and carols as well, and they will be singing or playing at the church service too.

Room 1 children went down to Kaikorai Valley College to locate a site for the two beehives that they made.  We found a great location and can now look forward to happy bees producing honey.  As part of that day we also did some digging and wheelbarrowing to develop some planter beds for another group.  It was a lot of fun.

Room 4 will visit Long Beach next week to do their rock climbing with Tim Bartholomew.  The other classes have now all managed to use their day (or postponement days) and have had their climbing days.  All children got a lot out of the day, challenged their skills and their thinking, and left feeling proud of themselves. The cave visits were fascinating, and are currently being used by Little Blues (Fairy Penguins).  We decided that they are probably either juveniles or molting, since they should have been out at sea feeding. The beach cricket, sand sculpting, football and frisbee throwing all proved to be great activities while another group were climbing.

Sean Waller has taken some professional photos and has very kindly made them available until next Friday via this link.
