Kaikorai Stream Boat Testing
Rooms 1, 2, 2A and 4 have been learning about Structures this term. We
have had a wonderful term with several Science and Technology
challenges, and a trip to the Port Chalmers Maritime Museum.
Lately we have been researching methods of propelling model boats, and
the children have made boats that can be
self-propelled. They have followed a full Technology Inquiry process of
learning about boats, designing, making, modifying testing and
evaluating throughout.
Tomorrow, Wednesday 6 December, the senior classes are going down to the Kaikorai Stream to test the boats they have been making. We will leave school at 11am and return by lunchtime. The stream is very low just now, but good enough for testing. Classes will also play some games on the Nairn Street Park while we wait for a turn at the stream.
Parents are welcome to join us for this time. Also, are there parents
who are able to help with standing in the stream to help maintain safety
margins?
Children will need shoes that are allowed to get wet (we will need to
stand in the stream), and a change into sandals or dry shoes back at
school.
