News from the Junior syndicate.

For the past two weeks we have been learning about Christmas around the world. It was a great way for the children to learn about how different countries celebrate Christmas. Each day for 6 days the children went to a different class to learn about how France, USA, England, Mexico, Japan and Italy celebrate Christmas. Each teacher focused on a different country and the children learnt how to say Merry Christmas if it was different from how we say it, they talked about the traditions and they made a craft from that country. I am sure you will enjoy seeing these hanging on your tree!!!

This week we had a trip to the local Marae. A great ending to our year long Maori studies with Ana. Thank you so much for helping your child learn their Mihi so they could say it at the Marae.

It has been a busy year and we would like to thank all the parents who volunteered to help with class activities like swimming, PMP, visits to the aquarium, and any other school activities. The teachers’ really appreciate the time you are prepared to give us to help with our activities.

Next week is the Junior syndicate picnic on Tuesday 13th December. Please make sure your permission slips are back with the class teacher.

I would like to thank Mrs Sonya Menzies who has been teaching in Room 10 this term she has done an amazing job.

Have a great Christmas and a relaxing holiday with your children and we look forward to seeing you all back next year. If you are a parent of a year two child we wish you all the best as you leave the Juniors and move to the next stage of their learning in the Middle syndicate. It has been a pleasure teaching your children.

Thank you from the Junior teachers Susan Oldfield, Dale Blackie, Paula Fisher, Courtney Dunn, Emma Riley, Sonya Menzies and Nicky Garden.
