The future of education...
If you are like anything like me you have probably been following the elections in the United States and the Trump Presidency.
This is not a political statement but I am interested in Trump's main campaign platform of bringing jobs back to America and I wonder what will happen to his Presidency if in fact there are no jobs to bring back.
Two recent articles caught my eye lately. One by Steven Hawking and the other by Bill Gates which discussed the impact on society of the rise of automation and artificial intelligence. This is a major concern in term of the future job prospects for our children but in some ways reassuring that the the vision that we have for our school will endeavour to put our children on a successful path.
In light of these concerns the Board of Trustees has completed and submitted to the Ministry of Education the school's Strategic Plan and Charter which reflects a strong emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. While ensuring the all important skills of "caring" that Hawkins also mentioned are first and foremost are threaded through our schools values.
At the ground level, this will be evident through the programmes we are teaching your child, the creation of a makerspace in the kitchen to encourage creativity and additional professional development for the staff in this area.
On a lighter note we wish all of the children going to Year 6 camp a wonderful time and we thank all of our parent helpers both at camp and at the Year 5 activity week. Without your support we cannot do the things that we do.
Kind regards
