On Wednesday 16th August, our ukulele group participated in the 2017 Kids’ Jam. 1000 children from all over Otago participated in this event, which involved singing and playing our ukulele instruments.
Our group worked hard to learn a full programme of songs and they included a number of ‘tricky chords’. As is our Kaikorai Primary tradition, we sang and played all the way to, and back from Tahuna Intermediate, with a very positive response from our two different drivers. Our favourite songs included ‘I’m a Believer, On Top Of The World and Proud Mary’. On the day we got to play with a live band. Anna Grimaldi was one of our special guests. She was a Paralympic long jump gold medallist. Even though she was born without a right hand, it did not stop her from playing ukulele with us!
It was a totally awesome morning, and enjoyed immensely by all of our group!
