This term has just flown by! After a lot of hard work and fun the children are more than ready to have a holiday. We do encourage them to keep up their reading and Xtra Math over the holidays, while also taking time to relax and have fun just being a kid!
Well done Room 6 for a fantastic assembly item! The play the children wrote was fantastic, it showcased their learning in maths and was very entertaining. We especially enjoyed the dance to ‘Break free’ and the song ‘How far I’ll go’
After Kaikville it has been back to business as usual for the classes, although that has included beginning our planning for our movie and doing gymnastics in the hall. Check out the photo gallery to see some of the things we have been up to.
Room 3 have some crazy ideas for their scene in the movie, and this week we got to share them with Mr Clarke. It turns out that lots of our crazy ideas are actually doable. The children won’t want to tell you too much though, we’d hate to give away the plot!
Room 5 have been learning about adding detail to their writing and character description. We wrote about the gingerbread man and used some descriptive adjectives to describe him such as mischievous, fast, tasty, and cheeky. We then wrote a powerful paragraph and as a result of awesome writing Room 5 were lucky enough to make gingerbread!
Room 6 have been using multiplication arrays (some of them very artistic) to learn about multiplication and division. The play the children wrote together for assembly helped many children understand what multiplication was all about. We are now thinking about our next big task which is the school movie - there are many creative ideas flowing through the classroom at the moment.
Next term is already looking to be action packed with trips to the Art Gallery and trips around the city to film our scenes for the movie. Keep an eye out early next term for notices for our overnight Tirohanga trip which will be held early in Term 4.
