Welcome to Room Seven

By Emma Riley | Posted: Monday January 30, 2017

A huge welcome back to all the children and families of Room Seven. I hope that you were all able to have some quality family time over the holiday break and that your child is refreshed and ready for another exciting year.

Here is what is happening this term in Room Seven:

Our value is: Kindness

Our Curriculum Focus: Social Studies and Science

Our Concept is: Sustainability

Reading

From Monday to Thursday your child will be bringing home a reading book to read with you at home. This is a great opportunity for you to listen to your child read and ask them questions about the book.

Spelling

Your child will receive their spelling notebook on a Monday afternoon with 5 - 8 words that they have misspelt in their writing books. Please practise these alongside their reading every night and send it back on Friday for your child to be tested.

P.M.P

PMP begins in Week Three of this term and continues through until Week Eight. Our PMP times are Tuesday and Thursday at 9.05am for half an hour. If you are able to help on one of these days, please add your name to the list on our classroom door. Please also remind your child to wear suitable clothing for these PMP sessions.

Library

Our class Library time is 10.00 – 10.30 on a Friday. Each child will have the opportunity to get two new books out, if their books from the previous week have been returned.

Your junk is our treasure!

Outside Rooms 7 and 9 this year, we are hoping to set up a ‘Maker Space’ area for our young children. This is an area in which children have an opportunity to be creative in their own space, using their imagination.

We are looking for donations of goods, such as:

Buttons, beads, ribbon, feathers, shells, coloured paper/cardboard, popsicle sticks, stickers, cellophane and wrapping paper etc!

We are also after small, broken appliances that can be pulled apart and small tools, such as screwdrivers, that children can use to do this.

If you have anything that we could use for this new initiative, please send along to Room 9.

Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] or pop in and see me at any stage :)
