The Dunedin RSA Welfare Trust is holding their annual Poppy Day Appeal on April 21st 2017 and has asked our school to help with the distribution of Poppies. We are happy to assist with this worthwhile cause, and the Dunedin RSA has asked that we have poppies available for a small donation from Monday 10th April to Thursday 13th April.
The suggested donation is a gold coin for a poppy.
The school will be holding a small remembrance at 2:40pm on Thursday the 13th. Children will read the the Ode of Remembrance, Flanders field Poem and Louis Robertson will play the Last Post. Children will be released to go home from this event and parents are welcome to join us for this.
On Anzac Day, Tuesday 25th April, the Dawn Service of Remembrance will commence at 6.30am at the Cenotaph – Queens Gardens and an open invitation is extended to all to participate in the march. A program for the event can be downloaded from the website www.dn-rsa.org.nz after the 14th April. Those wishing to march need to be assembled no later than 6am. Family medals may be worn on the right side of the chest.
