What a fun time we have had learning about the Native Birds of NZ. This has been a wonderful focus for the children and this learning and interest is sure to continue throughout the year. Well done to Room 11 for making it to the newspaper. You did so well raising money for the penguin hospital and we loved eating the penguin cookies.

For the next two weeks we are celebrating BOOK WEEK. It has been so much fun sharing our favourite books, the smallest book and the oldest book (126 years old) . The children have enjoyed having a different teacher each day come and read them a favourite story. Then after lunch we have "buddy read" with 4 different classes.

Each class is studying a different author. Room 9 is reading stories by Anthony Browne, Room 7 is reading  stories by Gavin Bishop, Room 8 - Kyle Mewburn, Room 12 - Margaret Mahy, Room 10 - Dr Seuss and Room 11 is learning how a book is made and why we need books.
What an amazing dress up parade we had on Thursday, a wonderful way to feel like/be a book character.

Instead of PMP we have had a few sessions of gymnastics. Thanks to Margaret Galbraith for setting this up for us.

A swimming notice has gone home today.  Please return it to the class teacher before the end of the term so we can give swimming numbers to Jill Clarke swim school.

We are off to the Stadium next Thursday so please make sure the children wear their school t-shirts and sensible shoes. Thank you for returning the permission slips.
