What a fun day we had today with Mr Reid as the teacher.
Every second Wednesday Mr Reid is the Room 8 teacher for the day. Starting from the 21st it will coincide with the Kaikorai Kiwi day. Today Mr Reid spent the day getting to know the 12 amazing people in Room 8. This afternoon was a time to learn about making things with clay.
Today I have been testing and collating the children's basic word knowledge and alphabet knowledge. How exciting it is to see the children who are already making amazing progress because you have helped them at home to learn their words. This support makes such a difference to your child's learning. My goal is to get the children well on the way with their reading by learning the first 20+ words in the first few weeks. I look on this as a partnership between home and school and I appreciate your support to do this.
Some children have also got an alphabet worm with some letters on for you to read through each night with them as well. Without this alphabet knowledge they are unable to sound any words by themselves.
I am thrilled by how quickly the children have settled in.
Happy Learning and thank you again for your support. Any problems please pop in and see me.
