Wow week five already

Dear Parents, it is hard to believe we are at the start of week five already. We have been really impressed with the way the children have adjusted to their new classroom and are showing great independence.

We are now well into the swing of normal routines, with a reading book going home each night and spelling words coming home on a Monday to be practised for their test on Friday.

The children have been busy learning different stations that they will do during the day. Our big focus this year is children taking charge of their own learning and making good choices about where they work, who they work with and what activities they will do to help them achieve their goals.

For the last two weeks in maths we have been completing our statistics unit where we have been making whole class and individual graphs.

For our Inquiry we have been looking at ‘Animals that live in communities’ we have been lucky enough to spend each afternoon in a different junior classroom where we have learnt about an animal and how their community works.

Our Library day is a Monday this year, so if you could remember to send their library books along on a Monday that would be greatly appreciated.

This week we are lucky enough to be heading up to Queenstown on Thursday and Friday to see how other schools use their collaborative spaces. Room 9 will be lucky enough to have Mrs Hall teaching them and lucky Room 7 will have Miss Waters.

Remember you can follow our class instagram ‘supersquad2018’ for photos, videos and updates of our learning.
