Just a quick update on what is happening for mathematics in Room 1.
For the next two weeks we will continue to focus on place value.
We have three fluid groups at the moment.
Group 1's goal is to understand and work with numbers up to 10,000.
Group 2's goal is to understand and work with numbers up to 1,000,000 and rounding.
Group 3's goal is to understand and work with numbers up to 1,000,000, rounding and decimal numbers.
I have updated their mathletics accounts to help support these goals and made a workspace on their google drive which has some videos and practice activities.
Children are also welcome to take home their Prime Mathematics books to work at home or show you what we have been doing.
From week 3 until around week 7 we will be working on addition and subtraction and for those who can solve complex subtraction problems in a variety of ways, will work on multiplication and division.
Making sure you child knows their facts to ten (3+7=10, 7+3= 10 etc) and times tables are great ways you can help at home.
