Room 10 News Term 3 Week 3

Room 10 have had a great start to the term and are well on their way with their inquiry around 'Significance.'

Cultural Experiences

Tomorrow, as part of our inquiry,  we are very excited to spend the afternoon with Tomomi, Tahito's Mum.  She will be teaching us all about her Japanese culture.

We also have a number of  children in Room 10 from  other cultures.  I am wanting to set up some more cultural afternoons for next week, with some other families from other cultures.  If you are able to help, then I would be very happy to hear from you.  Please contact me at:

Basic Facts - 'Wow Folders'

Over the next three weeks, we  will have a basic facts focus for maths.  Room 10 children have completed a pre-test and are now into their basic facts teaching groups.  From the children's pre-test results, I have created  some learning goals for each child.  These can be found in your child's 'wow' folder on google docs. Do have a look, so that you can support your child with their goals.

Literacy Support

This year, at Kaikorai Primary, I am the Lead Teacher for Literacy.  While Kristen Fergusen, our SENCO Teacher is away on maternity leave, I have also been asked to take over some of her roles.

Therefore for the next two terms I will be out of the classroom from 9am- 12.30pm on Fridays, where I will oversee 'Parent Reading' and 'Quick 60' reading programmes, as well as providing literacy teaching for some junior children.

Mrs Garden (Nicky) will teach Room 10 during this time.

Many thanks,

Paula Fisher
