On the 29th August 2018, our school ukulele group went to Tahuna Intermediate to participate in a Ukulele Jam. Report by Belle, Hannah, Alisa and Anna.
We played lots of amazing songs. There were a good mix and the students of the jam enjoyed playing them greatly. They included Tutira Mai, Makolay, Nga Iwi E, Feel it Still, Riptide, Mercy, Twist and Shout, Don’t Worry Be Happy and many others. There was more than 500 people and it was very loud. A band played as well as all us ukuleles so we had background music, which is good because the ukuleles don’t always hold the timing or the tune.
On the way there, Kaikorai Primary always sings and plays on the bus, (which greatly annoys the bus driver, though they never say anything). At morning tea we got two cookies and water. We really wanted to go look around outside but the weather had been rainy. The Hits went to Ukulele Jam and two kids won a ukulele and four children won a box of chocolates.
We all had a fantastic time.
Big Thanks To: Alison - host; Ruth - host; Mrs Kumar - our teacher; Nina - Helper; and the Band and instrumental players.
