Thursday 15th November 2018
Dear Parents and Caregivers
The NZEI has advised the Kaikorai Primary School Board of Trustees that the principal and teachers at our school will be taking strike action currently on Thursday 15th November 2018. The Board has carefully considered the availability of teaching staff, and unfortunately decided that we can’t provide the normal teaching services during the strike. The Board has made a unanimous decision that the school will need to close during this strike. I know that this is inconvenient for parents and students alike, but please be assured that student safety is our main concern. It’s important that you make alternative arrangements for the care of your child/children on the day of the strike. Kelly club will also not operate on this day.
The board supports the Principal, teachers and NZEI in striving for better employment conditions so that the teaching and learning of our children remains at the highest quality possible. If you wish to know more about what is being discussed in the negotiation please view at the following site:
Thank you for your understanding. Please contact Dougal McGowan at [email protected] if you have any queries relating to this decision.
Kind regards,
Dougal McGowan
Chair of Board of Trustees
