Creative Kids Conference

By Simon Clarke | Posted: Thursday February 21, 2019

Friday 15 March - 9-11am @ Kaikorai School

It has been a year since the Otago Community Trust provided funding for Kaikorai and the four other schools in our cluster and we thought it was time we showed the parents all of the things that the children have been learning to do.

Each class has been investigating deeper into a tool and looking at how to use it in a creative way.

  • Room 1 – Programming through Lego WEDO robots
  • Room 2A – 3D printing
  • Room 2 – Cardboard engineering
  • Room 3 –Augmented reality
  • Room 4 – Virtual reality
  • Room 5 – Coding through Scratch and Makey Makeys
  • Room 6 – Electrical circuits
  • Room 7 and 9 – Edison Robots
  • Room 8  – Photo manipulation through picollage
  • Room 10 - Green screen technology
  • Room 12 - Seesaw

If you don't know what these mean or how to do them then we have the conference for you.

On Friday the 15th March the school is open to all parents and grandparents to learn about these topics.  Children will be presenting their learning and then teaching you how to use these tools at the following times.  This will be a hands on experience and your child will expect you to at least try to make a similar project.

  • 9:05 am - 9:30 - Juniors - Room 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12
  • 9:30am - 10:05 - Middles - Room 3, 5, 6
  • 10:10 - 11:00 - Seniors - Room 1, 2, 2A and 4

The school will be open for everyone to see what the children have been doing and examples of their work throughout the 9-11 time slot.
