A sport filled three weeks for the middle and senior students.
On Tuesday the Year 6 students went to KVC to participate in the KVC Sports Expo. It was a long and hot day with many challenges and new sports played. A big favourite was the table tennis! Other games and sports played included rugby, cricket, surf lifesaving, orienteering, climbing, volleyball, basketball and badminton. Please see the picture below.
Preparations for our conference on Friday next week are well underway. Come to Room 1 and see computational thinking and robotics to solve real-life problems; Room 2 will be creating cardboard solutions; Room 2a are designing technological solutions in 3 dimensions; Room 3 and 4 are entering the world of virtual reality; Room 5 is putting their coding skills to work on the versatile Makey Makey; And finally Room 6 are incorporating circuitry into artworks.
It is extremely exciting and inspiring to see what these children are doing and we are very enthusiastic to share this learning with the community on the kid's conference day. So please come along for a great day!
Over the last few weeks, the Middle Syndicate have been working with students from Otago Girls High School to work on a range of sports skills. Each group of students has been working on a particular sport, and building on a range of skills for each session. Despite the hot weather, children have been working hard to improve their skills in their assigned sport. They have enjoyed learning and working with the OGHS students. These sessions will continue for another two weeks so fingers crossed that the lovely weather continues.
A number of children have been selected to take part in the PAL programme. This is a programme designed by Sport Otago to help build leadership potential within those children who have an aptitude for sports. For more information please follow the following link from Sport Otago. A huge congratulations to those children selected.
