Term 2 Senior and Middle Syndicate news

What a fantastic start to term two we are all having.

Senior News

All classes have come back after the Easter break focused and engaged on Kaikville and running a mini-society. You may be hearing words such as wants/needs, supply/demand and other financial terms being spoken about at home.  Our programmes are covering aspects of what is money,  different types of jobs, good and services, and financial literacy.

Children are learning about creating a CV in preparation for applying for their job of choice in their area of interest. It is great to read their experiences and previous jobs - some examples are cleaning the fish tank, walking the dog, and washing the car! As part of their CV they are required to find a referee to back up their skills, so you may be asked to vouch for their fabulous skills.

Kaikville is happening in Week 6 which will be a really exciting time for our school.  If you have an area of expertise or interest in financial literacy or a business please don't hesitate to get in touch - we would love to have you in our classes.

As always, thank you for your support.

Middle News

At the end of last term, children were retested on their basic addition and subtraction facts. The results showed some amazing progress compared with the beginning of the term.
The hard work put into improving their basic facts through classroom learning and work at home certainly paid off.

This term, children in the middle syndicate have been starting to get ready for Kaikville by talking about jobs, finding out about money, and creating their CVs. They have been thinking carefully about their skills and achievements and how they can showcase this on the CVs. One of the things that we'll be looking at next week is a referee - someone who can recommend them for the job they will be applying for. If your child asks you to be their referee, you may be asked to write a short few sentences about why you think they would be a great employee for their chosen company.

You feel light like you could jump a thousand miles.

Your soul is full of cherries and roses.

You feel as free as a hawk flying in the azure sky.

Joy lights up your spirit like a candle in the night.

As the sunlight shines like stars down on you, you dance, like a fairy flying.

The movement is sweeter than honey.

You feel like everything you feel and touch is smoother than melting chocolate.

When you sing only joy and passion is felt.

The world is sweet.

Every pain is forgotten or left far away,

in a place that is only spoken of in tales of horror and darkness.

Oh, the feeling that you are experiencing is so much more.

It is just more.

More than more.

Doves glide through the sky like a signal of your peace and happiness.

Robins chirp joyfully in the lavender gardens outside.

Outside in a world of kindness and peace.

You are free.

You are happy.

People raking their driveway

Leaf fights everywhere

Orange, red, brown leaves as far as the eye can see

As the leaves crunch crackle and rip

Acorns falling down - OUCH- what are you doing!

This week we have started learning about Kaikville. We learned about budget and saving. Budget is when you have a plan for how much you can spend and saving is where you save money. We also looked at money this term and why we need money for certain reasons like needs and wants. We are looking at CV’s and how to apply for a job so we are ready for when we are older. We are excited for Kaikville to get started.
