Some things to think about as we prepare for a busy term:

We've had a busy start to Term 2 with discussion and preparation for Kaikville creating a lot of excitement within the classroom.

As part of our preparation for Kaikville, we have started by talking about jobs, goods, services, New Zealand money, and how people apply for jobs.  As part of this, we have been creating our CVs so that we can apply for a job in a Kaikville Company.  We have been talking about the KAIK values and the importance of being the best that we can be, as that's exactly the type of employee each company will be looking for.   Kaikville is a great learning experience for children as they get to have a taste of what it is like to have a job, as well as the many decisions that need to be made to ensure a successful business.

While there are lots of great things happening in the classroom, there has also been a need to have discussions about some things which haven't been going so well.  This week, we have had a few children making poor choices in the classroom during break times.  This has resulted in damage to both personal property in tote trays, and to some of our Chromebooks.  This is both disappointing and frustrating for those affected.  Next week we'll be having a discussion about our school values.  In particular, we will be talking about making good decisions, being kind to each other, and being respectful of our own and other people's belongings.  While this will be a discussion that we will be having in the classroom, it would be great if you could encourage these positive behaviours at home too.  If children see (or have seen) personal belongings or other resources being damaged or treated in ways that are likely to cause damage, they are encouraged to let me (or a teacher on duty) know so that any issues can be either prevented or resolved.
