Welcome back to Term 3!
Hi all,
I hope you all had a nice break and are ready for another exciting term. It was great to catch up with most of you during parent-teacher interviews last term. If you were away at the time feel free to come in and organise a catch up for this term. We have already had an exciting week back getting into our new learning for the term, 150 years of Kaikorai Primary School!
A lot of our work this term will be revolved around looking back to the last 150 years. So far the class has thought about what life would have been like back then and came up with questions and wonderings they would like to answer throughout the term. The big focus will be on social sciences with the arts shining through leading up to our school production in Week 9. This will tell the story of the history of Kaikorai Primary School. We will also be sharing our new learning through an exhibition type piece at the school reunion (Week 3, Term 4). Please get in touch if you would be able to help out in the class or have any expertise in dance, drama, Dunedin history or showcasing information, thanks in advance.
We will have the perfect opportunity to gain experience with our new topic down at Toitu - Early settlers Museum. Room 4 will be heading down there on the 15th August, Thursday of Week 4. A letter will be sent home closer to the time regarding information with times and parent help needed.
In Week 3 the Hills Cluster Cross Country is being held. This is where those chosen in Year 3-6 will be racing down at Balmacewen Intermediate against other schools in the area. In the lead up to this, the Senior Syndicate will be heading down to Balmac next week to practice their running and to help with the selection process.
Lastly, a reminder Room 4 students (both year 4 and 5) will be heading away to middles camp in Week 2 of next term, October 24th. If you have any questions feel free to send me an email or pop in. There will be more information sent out closer to the time.
Have a lovely weekend.
