Welcome back to Term 3. As always we have another busy one planned with lots of exciting things happening.
It has been great to see children back at school after a restful holiday and ready to get stuck into work. Our focus this term is all around the upcoming Kaikorai Primary 150th Reunion. In particular, we will be inquiring into what life and school was like in the past. We are looking forward to our trips to Toitū over the coming weeks to explore this further.
We have also been working hard preparing our dance routines for the whole school production in Week 9. Our dances are based around significant events in Dunedin and New Zealand that have occurred over the past 150 years. We were lucky enough to have Angelina from Black and White Dance Studio come in last Friday and teach us a fun dance routine. Both children and teachers came away excited and with new ideas to use for our production. Thank you for working with us Angelina!
For the last three weeks our maths focus has been on Basic Facts. From our testing we recognised a need to further develop the instant recall of basic facts across the Junior Syndicate. I’m sure over the last few weeks you have heard your children talk about Mad Maths Minute and have noticed significant improvements. We have loved seeing them so excited and determined to be better. Our next step is to see this incorporated into our programmes to ensure they continue to build on this knowledge throughout the year. We want to extend a big thank you to parents for supporting this at home. It truly is a team effort.
