Lights, Camera, Action, and Tirohanga
It's our 150th birthday celebration and every class in the school has picked an event within those years to learn about and then share the story of each event through dance.
Many people would be surprised to learn that in 1925 Dunedin hosted the world fair "New Zealand and South Seas exhibition." There were over 3 200,000 visitors. The exhibition included many attractions including a roller coaster(as part of an Amusement Park), a world Art Exhibition, and the first large-scale display of electricity. Room 5 has learned about this major event and will share some of these stories.
Room 6 will share the story of World War 1. When we remember World War 1 it is a somber occasion. We also bake biscuits, wear poppies and remember those who shall not be forgotten at ceremonies, parades and privately with our families.
"Help!" On the 27th of June 1964, The Beatles visited Dunedin and were welcomed by a crowd of two thousand people. Room 3 have been learning about this visit and have based their dance on this amazing experience.

As you will know the dates have been set for our overnight trips to Tirohanga. We will be holding a parent information evening at 6pm on Tuesday the 10th of September.
