Read some of the reviews from our recent visit to Balmac for the science roadshow

On the 12th of November, the seniors went to Balmac to view the science roadshow. Everyone really enjoyed all the fabulous science activities. People gasped as others lay down on a bed of nails and surprisingly didn’t hurt themselves. It really, definitely didn’t hurt, It actually felt like a nice normal bed!!!
The hosts were very energetic. It made me more inclined to like and listen to what they say!! The experiments they did were BRILLIANT. Who knew that fire could go green? Well, they did obviously. They didn’t just play with fire though (don’t play with fire!!) they also showed us about atoms and gravity. One of the ways the got us to engage with the science of gravity was with rockets. Everybody watched with bated breath until, with nowhere near an ear-splitting bang, It went hurtling through the air!!

As you may know on Tuesday the 12 of November we went to the science roadshow. It was held at Balmacewen intermediate which is just down the road, so we walked down and walked back. The first show was about chemical reactions and was very interesting because we learned about to determine what a chemical is we can burn it and see what colour it burns. Then we walked around and looked at all the exhibits, my favorite was the bed of nails. Next, we learned about motion and gravity. They showed us that a feather falls slower than a lid because it is less aerodynamic. It was a great learning experience and very fun, I would definitely do it again.

On Tuesday we went down to Balmacewen Intermediate to watch the science roadshow. When we arrived we sat down in the hall and watched cool science experiments for example: when you put copper in a flame the flame turns green. Afterward, we went to check out some cool mini-exhibitions like a plasma ball and a bed of nails.
In my opinion, the show was pretty amazing and I liked the bit where they burned lithium and the flame turned bright red.
