What a great start to the year we have had! Classes have been busy getting to know each other, creating class treaties and focusing on our KAIK value of being kind. Our inquiry focus for this term is Diversity. We have started by sharing about ourselves and what makes us unique. We have also been learning about ways that we can be different from each other. Further along in the term we will be learning about different communities of animals and how they are similar and different.

Sun hats & spare clothes

Each child needs to have a school sunhat which is clearly named. We have collected a number of unnamed sun hats already this year, please check the lost property by Rooms 8 & 10 if you have lost one! Sun hats can be left at school in your child’s classroom to ensure that students have them each day. Also, it would be helpful if children have a set of spare clothes that are kept in their school bags in case they are needed.

Reading Folders

A reminder that every child should have a reading folder that they bring to and from school each day. This is important as your child needs to put their reading books, spelling books, library books and any notices that come home inside them. Please see your child’s teacher if you have any questions.

Library

The school library is officially open and your child would have had their first visit last week. Each class visits the library once a week and it is a great opportunity to explore new books. Make sure your child knows their library day so that they can bring their books back and exchange them for new ones!

Swimming

Later this term the junior classes will be having swimming lessons at DNI pool. The lessons start on Tuesday 17th March and will be every morning until Thursday 26th March. More information will be sent home closer to these dates.

We look forward to seeing you all at the parent teacher interviews next week on Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th February.
