Just a further reminder that our school Book Week and Book Fair takes place this week from Monday the 8th of June until Friday the 12th of June.
Book Week is a special week in our school calendar, where we celebrate reading, through a variety of literature-rich activities.
Through the Scholastic Book Fair, we also build the excitement and fun of reading, through our pop-up bookshop.
*Book Club:
As part of Book Week, children will have the opportunity to share one of their favourite books from home, through a class Book Club. There will be a different theme for each day. Children are encouraged to bring along a book, following the daily theme:
Monday 8th June - Your favourite fiction book
Tuesday 9th June - Your favourite non-fiction book
Wednesday 10th June - Your funniest book
Thursday 11th June - Your oldest book
Friday 12th June - Your most interesting book
*Dress-up Day:
On Friday the12th of June, we will have a dress-up day to conclude our Book Week. All children are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character.
*Bookmark competition:
As part of Book Week, we will be having a bookmark competition. Kaikorai children are invited to design and create a bookmark around the Book Fair theme “Artic Adventure - there’s snow much to read.” Bookmarks need to be handed in to Mrs Fisher in Room 10 by Thursday the 11th of June at 3 pm. There will be 3 junior, 3 middle and 3 senior winners. Prizes will be announced on Friday the 12th of June, and the winners will receive a book of their choice from the Book Fair, up to the value of $20.
Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair will be held in the school's kitchen, which can be found opposite Room 1A. It will be open for families to view and purchase books during these times:
Monday the 8th - Friday the 12th of June:
8.30 - 9.00 am
Monday the 8th - Thursday the 11th of June:
3.00- 3.30 pm
We will have an Eftpos machine available at the Book Fair.
Every book that is purchased through the Scholastic Book Fair provides the school with valuable rewards, which enables us to purchase more books for our school library.
When coming to view the Book Fair in the school kitchen, please full out the contact tracing register which will be situated just outside the kitchen. We will also need to be mindful of the number of people in the kitchen at a given time, so we appreciate your patience in viewing the Book Fair.
Wish Lists
All classes will be viewing the Book Fair over the first three days of this coming week. Children will have the opportunity to write a "wish list" of books that they would like to purchase. If you are not able to get into the book fair to view that books yourself but would like your child to purchase a book, simply fill out your credit card details on the back of the wish list form and get your child to return the form to Mrs Fisher or Mrs Galbraith before school or after school - in the kitchen. Your child will then be given their purchased book to take home.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to a fun week where we celebrate reading and the gift of books!
