Hi, my name is Charlotte and I am going to tell you a bit about my experience so far of being a PAL. If you are wondering what PAL stands for it is Physical Activity Leader. As a year 6 being a PAL was an opportunity for me and I decided to take it. All of the PALs went to a half-day training session run by Sport Otago where we learnt how to explain games in a simple way for kids to understand. We all enjoyed it.
The PALs were put into groups of four and we organise lunchtime activities such as ball skills, skipping and fun games. Every Monday lunchtime my group has been running activities for the juniors. So far we have done netball skills, basketball skills, and an obstacle course. In the weeks ahead we will run activities for senior and middle students also. Students need to listen to the notices to find out what PAL activity is on that day.
I enjoy being a PAL because I love sports and like to teach others. Our group works really well together and all contribute to planning and teaching. I have learned good teamwork and to be a more confident communicator.
