Covid Alert - Level 1

By Simon Clarke | Posted: Monday September 21, 2020

Today the Government made the announcement regarding moving into Level 1.

Action Points

  • Before school and after school pick up/drop offs will remain largely the same at Level 1.
  • Sick Children expectations

The move to level 1 has little effect on the day to day running of the school but it is still very positive news as we can progress with planning for events with more than 100 people such as the upcoming North Zone sports, the Street Party, Year 6 camp and the reintroduction of assemblies.

Pick up and drop-offs remain the same.  Please encourage your child to walk to their class in the morning as this fosters independence and resilience.  We will continue to have a junior teacher on the Tyne St gate to support children to get to class.

Likewise have a pre-arranged meeting spot to meet your child at the end of the day.  Children are free to come into and leave by any gate that you wish.  One thing that parents may have missed in all of the changes is the end of day expectations.  Parents are more than welcome onto the school grounds at level 1 but please wait until 3pm to come onto the site to allow for important end of day routines to take place without distractions.

The tracking QR code will remain in the office and as with anywhere, it is common sense to scan your code before entering the internal buildings.

The Ministry of Health advice is to stay away from school if unwell and if showing COVID-like symptoms they are to be assessed by a GP or Healthline to determine if testing is recommended. The symptoms for COVID-19 have expanded as more has become known about the virus. Symptoms noted on the Ministry of Health website are:

  • a cough
  • a high temperature (at least 38˚C)
  • shortness of breath
  • a sore throat
  • sneezing and runny nose
  • temporary loss of smell.

Kind regards
