Middle Syndicate News

2020 certainly has been an interesting year. The children have coped so well with everything that has happened this year. Thank you also to the support from our parent community during the year, it has been much appreciated! We wish our year 4s well for their move to the senior syndicate, and look forward to seeing our year 3s become the leaders of the middle syndicate next year.

Art Gallery Visit

Room 6 squeezed in an art gallery visit in week 8 and worked with Jen Boland.  After having a careful look around the art gallery, travelling from country to country, they created a cityscape using a range of painting techniques.  It was a great way to finish the year!

Ruud Kleinpaste Visit

Our school was lucky to have Ruud Kleinpaste visit to share his knowledge of the wonderful world of bugs.  I'm sure that the children now have a lot of cool facts to go with their collections of insect cards.  Each class was also gifted two books with sets of cards to go in them.  These will be a great reference for our entomologists of the future.

Mathletics Super Mathletes

It was fantastic to be able to hand out some Mathletics certificates to the top 10 points earners for 2020.  What made this even better was that all of the students in the top 10 were from the middle syndicate!  This shows that we have some very enthusiastic mathematicians who have aspired to be the best they can be.  Well done to Rosie Hebden, Holly Watkins, Toby Xu, Alex Woodrow, Millar Logan-Ferris, Isabelle Pauli de Souza, Bella Waller, Angus Chisman, Penelope Hodgson, and Connor Gillan.  Keep up all of your hard work!

Project-Based Learning

It has been great to see what each of the middle syndicate classes have been working on for their PBL this term.

Room 3 have been creating some fantastic vehicles as part of their PBL, and it has been great to see scientific thinking being brought into their discussions and how they can make their boats go faster.

Room 5 have linked theirs to our school value of kindness and this has been evident out in the playground as they have tried to help and encourage some of our younger Kaikorai students.

Room 6 have designed some great shade structures and have been working on giving and receiving feedback.  They have then tried to use this feedback to improve their designs.

Thank you

Once again, I would like to say thank you for all of your support throughout the year.  We hope that you have a wonderful break and get to enjoy some family time of the holidays.

All the best from the middle syndicate team.
