The Board of Trustees have reviewed the safety issues on Wright St and have made the following changes.
The most notable change at the moment is the series of cones and barriers. The kiss and run area works well when we can keep people moving. Please only pull in to collect your child if they are standing there and waiting.
The barriers and cones are also designed to stop people reversing as this causes a hazard to our road patrol people and our students. You will need to be patient until the cars clear in front of you.
The Board have also been working with the DCC. The DCC will be putting in a mobility park at the top of the kiss and run, returning the north side Kiss and Run to a P5 during the busy time of the day and creating one extra park.
The DCC have also confirmed that the crossing area is a courtesy crossing area and therefore the road patrol are not able to stop cars. Their focus will be on stopping students rather than cars.
Please continue to talk to your child about keeping themselves safe to and from school.
The best places to park will be in the streets that are on either side of Highgate Rd, eg School St, lower Wright St or Fifield St.
