Junior News

Six weeks down and we are well into the swing of things. Routines and expectations have been established and children are becoming more independent learners.

Thank you to all the parents who attended parent interviews recently. It was great to be able to share the learning successes of your children and identify areas where you can help at home. As always, if you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to get in contact with your child’s teachers. We are always happy to help!

A highlight of our year so far has been our trip to the Town Hall where we listened to the New Zealand Airforce Band. We were truly amazed by the incredible performance and particularly enjoyed hearing some of our favourite songs played.

Our focus now shifts to our first PBL topic ‘Voyages’, the untold story of how our Polynesian ancestors navigated across the Pacific Ocean to Aotearoa. As part of our entry event, we are excited to welcome Amadeo from the Otago Museum who will inspire us on all things floating and sinking. From here we will spend time in classes delving deeper into this by experimenting with different objects that float and sink.

Swimming begins on Tuesday 23 March for 8 days. A big thank you to the parents and grandparents who have kindly offered to help out. Events like this would not be possible without your support. Thanks for your continued support.

Junior Teachers

Reminders:

8.30 am Bell: A reminder that children and parents are not allowed in classrooms until the 8.30 am bell. This is an important prepping time for teachers and meetings may be taking place.

Sun Hats: There are still a number of children without school hats. It is a requirement that all children have one in Term 1 and 4. Hats are available for purchase from the school office.

Change of clothes: We recommend that all children have a spare change of clothes in their bag.
