Covid 19 update - 23/08/21

Today the Government decided that we will stay at Alert Level 4 until at least the end of the week.

We hope that our distance learning programme has been a success for you today.  I am aware that we are working through a small number of technical issues and thank you for your patience.

I would like to thank publically the teaching team that has pivoted quickly and got their online learning programmes up and running so quickly.  I really enjoyed "popping" into classes today and seeing the 1:1, small group and whole-class teaching that was taking place. This was a significant change for us from the last lockdown.

I read this interesting article last night from Finish education expert Pasi Sahlberg about not panicking as a parent.  It is Australian based but has a direct relevance to New Zealand and I thought provided some excellent advice and reassurance.

A big thank you for taking the lockdown seriously and doing what we have been asked – we’ve seen before that staying at home will break the chain of transmission and save lives. It is even more important that we all follow the health advice because the Delta variant is very contagious.

Breaking the rules risks the health of those close to you, the wider community and could result in the lockdown period being extended.  I have noted through our newly installed security cameras that we have had a small number of children and families playing in the school grounds.

Please remember that the school, playground and school grounds remain closed at Alert Level 4.

We know there will have been any number of challenges for you to deal with but we have been getting some great feedback about the learning that is happening and thank you for all your support.  Please keep connecting with your teachers or myself with any questions you might have.

Kind regards

Simon Clarke
