What a term it has been!
In the Senior Syndicate assembly this week we discussed the best and most memorable parts of term 3. Children spoke about the old senior block demolition and the emotions attached to watching their old class tumble down. We talked about how settled we are in our new space. The calendar art has been a hit. We loved the cricket session with Otago Cricket and learning athletic skills in our PE sessions. We celebrated Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori and learned some new rakau actions, waiata, and te reo.
We are well settled in our new space and it is a very special place to be. There is something magical about being able to see all the junior classes and senior classes in one space. Classes across the syndicates are engaging in singing, buddy class activities, as well as some collaborative teaching beginning to take shape.
3 of the senior classes have had student teachers taking control of their class for the last 3 weeks. They have been refining their craft as this is their final placement before graduation in December. We thank Brie, India, and Garrand for their efforts and their commitment to our tamariki. We recognise the challenge that online learning brings and we thank them for their contributions to our class programmes on and offline!
We were lucky to have a movie industry superstar come and present to our senior team this week in preparation for our KAIK movie! One of our own parents Bryce Holtshousen talked to us about being a production designer. We were wowed with stories about working on the Spiderman films and Men in Black. We got some great tips and advice from Bryce that will certainly help us next term when we begin filming!
We have a very big term 4 on the horizon. Our efforts will be around making our movies, preparing for camp and the Year 5 activity week, getting ready for our leavers' assembly. For our Year 6 Whānau, I look forward to our camp parent meeting in the first week back where we will discuss all things, Camp Iona!
I hope your children have a restful, healthy, and enjoyable break away from school.
As always thank you for your ongoing support.
Ngā mihi maioha
