Hi everyone! I hope that you have had a wonderful holiday and have managed to spend some quality time with family and friends. Room 8 is looking forward to our final term of learning as Year 1's in our beautiful new classroom.
KAIK Value
This term our KAIK value is 'Keen.'
*To be confident
*To try new activities
*To make new friends
Homework
Just a reminder about homework:
*Spelling - words come home on a Monday and tested on Friday morning.
*Reading book - comes home every day - Monday to Thursday.
*Word Wall - for those children learning their 100 sight words, a new word wall will be found in your child's home book on Monday.
Note: Spelling notebooks need to be kept in your child's reading folder as your child will need access to their spelling words in class, as part of our literacy programme.
Swimming
The Junior Syndicate will be swimming from Monday 1st November until Wednesday 10th November. This is weeks 3 and 4 of the school term. More information about swimming will follow shortly.
Sunhats
Just a reminder that all children will need to have their blue school sunhat at school on Monday. These hats will be worn at morning tea and lunch breaks, as well as for physical education and all other outdoor activities.
Drink Bottles
Please ensure that your child has a clearly named drink bottle of water at school every day. These drink bottles are kept in the classroom for the day so that all children have ready access to water.
School Movie
Room 8 will be filming our part of the school movie the first week back at school on Wednesday 20 October and Thursday 21 October.
Initially, Room 8 was going to do our filming using the Book Bus. However, due to Covid restrictions at Level 2, this is no longer an option and the Book Bus is not able to come up to school. Therefore, we are going to film our part of the movie around the school grounds and using modern technology, such as the use of green screening.
Please note, that as we are using the green screen on Wednesday and Thursday, please could all children wear clothing that is suitable on these days. This means no clothing that is green or a colour that has a lot of green in it.
Thank you to those families who brought along umbrellas to use during our filming. We now only require one more child-size umbrella. If you child does have a suitable umbrella, please could they bring it to school on Monday.
