Project-based learning

PBL is in full swing for Term 1. The driving question is - How can we showcase our school when parents are not allowed on-site? Not only is this responsive to our needs and a real-life issue, but it also has real meaning for the children as an authentic problem they want to solve. They are desperate to show you their classes, their learning, the new build and what life is like at Kaikorai School at this time. It is these authentic experiences that lead to enduring understanding and life-long learning. Keep an eye out on your child's seesaw account for examples of PBL in action.

Covid- 19

What a time it has been and will continue to be! We are yet to have staff away ill or isolating at this stage. But, we know the time will come, and when it does, we will pull together to make it work for our tamariki and our school. Classes may look different than we are used to seeing, but we will make it work. If your child is at home for a length of time, we will drop off learning packs to your letterbox - please let us know at the time whether this is something you would like for your child.

A request from Sharon - When leaving an absence on the answerphone, please state why your child is away from school. Many thanks for considering my request.

School values and certificates

A highlight for me is visiting classes to present the principal's awards every 2nd Friday. These certificates are a reminder of the fantastic mahi and attitudes our learners display every day. Our children are kind; they try hard even when the learning is tricky, they help their classmates out and go above and beyond to make someone else's day better. I know you celebrate these awards at home, and you rightly should; being proud is a good feeling to have! ⭐

Walk and wheels week.

It was great to see so many of our students take alternative methods of transport to school this week. It meant fewer cars on the road at drop off and pick up times. The walking bus is a superb way to meet new families and for your child to have active transport for their walk to school.
